WaveCom will continue as a VMware Cloud Service Provider and License Reseller

We are pleased to announce that we will continue to provide a comprehensive VMware by Broadcom Cloud Service Provider ecosystem in Estonia and nearby countries – both as VMware's cloud-based Service Provider and as a Reseller of the best-priced licenses. This news comes after a long period of turmoil around VMware, which began with their final takeover by Broadcom. In the intervening period, a certain amount of ignorance was caused by the "redefinition" of the peer-to-peer network and the change in pricing principles, which was accompanied by a certain increase in prices. In contrast to the positive side, the new VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) standard package added a host of important, free extras such as NSX enterprise Plus and VMware Aria Enterprise Plus. In addition, the quality of VMware products and customer support has also improved significantly. With regard to the latter, in particular, we have already seen significant positive changes.
The continuation of cooperation will also lead to some changes in our range of service offerings.
- One of the most significant changes is the change to the VMware license model, where the current vRAM-based pricing changed to Core-based. Due to this, in order to continue to provide our customers with a high-quality and transparent service in terms of price, we will increase the price of our current vCPU (virtual processor) by only 1 euro from June 1, 2024. It should be noted that vCPU is the smallest component of our cloud service, so the change is not very big.
- We have upgraded our Endla Data Centre cloud service processors, replacing the existing 2.6GHz clock speed models with the new 3GHz, which improves the performance of the services we provide. Existing customers should perform a complete shutdown of the VM and then restart the VM in the Cloud Director environment to implement these changes in virtual machines.
- As an innovation, VMware has provided NSX Enterprise Plus for service providers to use, which adds new capabilities. However, distributed firewall (DFW) has been converted into a paid additional service. At the same time, DFW will already provide significant additional features in the near future, which were previously only available with the NSX Enterprise Plus service. The most important capabilities of the VMware DFW are the protection between VMs in the same segment. Another important use case is the protection of public IP addresses.
- As a novelty, we are now offering an alternative solution to DFW in the form of the new generation of Checkpoint NGTX or NGTP firewalls. These firewalls offer a number of security services, including DDoS protection, SSL and IPsec VPN, real-time intrusion protection IPS, and protection against various cyber threats, malware, botnets, and viruses. In addition, spam removal and email cleaning from possible malware is also included.
- Starting from May 1st, we will also offer the free VMware Aria service, which will provide a complete overview and monitoring of your infrastructure and virtual machines.
- There were also changes to the AVI load balancer service. The current Basic version will be replaced by AVI Enterprise Plus, which includes additional features such as a firewall for web applications, DDoS protection, advanced algorithms and logging. Although the new service is available for an additional fee, AVI LB allows you to use up to 10 load distribution services at the same time. Also customers can always use the HA Proxy service based on free software. We also provide support and assistance in setting it up.
All in all, we are pleased to be able to assist our current and future customers in providing a comprehensive cloud service across the VMware ecosystem, including the VMware Tanzu container and GPU Cloud platform. We also hope that the accompanying changes will have a positive impact on your experience as a whole with our services. Please let us know if you have any questions or need further information regarding the services we provide.
And still - to make sure of the value and quality of our services we offer a trial period of 1 month free of charge for all WaveCom Cloud services. We also offer to all new and existing customers free PoC environments when implementing the service.
Last but not least, the news that the scope of our services will be further expanded by new services in May 2024, namely the addition of a new cloud platform solution based on Cloudstack and XenServer to our product portfolio. It has been designed for price-sensitive customers, but for which no compromises have been made on the availability and security of the service.
