VMware Cloud Updates 2025
The main news for 2025 will be the transition to newer CPUs (early Q2) and the introduction of new, state-of-the-art HPE G12 servers with powerful Xeon 6 processors (summer 2025).
The aforementioned updates will allow all applications to run even faster. When we replaced the previous Intel Xeon Gold 6154 @ 3.0GHz processors with Intel Xeon Gold 6254 @ 3.10GHz at the beginning of Q2, the average performance improved by approximately 16%. This change was applied to all current servers and did not affect the service price.
The introduction of new HPE G12 servers with Xeon 6 processors, however, will bring significantly better performance indicators, with changes potentially being several times higher for different applications.
In addition, the new servers will have 4x100Gig (GB/s) network connections, where virtual machines will communicate with each other and with the internet at 100Gig (GB/s) with virtually no latency.
Clients could migrate to the new server cluster seamlessly. In terms of price, this could mean a €1/month higher priced processor. At the same time, on virtual machines that currently use many processors, their number could be reduced. This will bring not only a significant increase in speed but also savings.
VMware Aria Operations
Some time ago, we introduced the VMware Aria Operations solution (formerly known as vRealize Operations) to our clients, which is a VMware tool for monitoring, managing, and optimizing IT infrastructure. Its main goal is to help organizations better manage their virtual and hybrid cloud environment.
Performance Monitoring
Real-time overview of the entire infrastructure's status and anomaly detection using artificial intelligence and machine learning, with visualization.
Capacity Planning and Optimization
Analysis of resource consumption (CPU, memory, disk space), with recommendations for relocating resources or correctly increasing/decreasing VMs.
Cost Allocation and Cloud Cost Management Coming Soon
Cost reporting by vApps, virtual machines, and other services, allowing for budget monitoring and better cost forecasting.
Veeam Backup
Users can now restore individual files in virtual machines or download them from the Veeam repo archive. Soon, we will also add so-called Application Awareness, which allows restoring objects from Microsoft servers such as Active Directory, SharePoint, and Exchange, as well as various databases such as MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Oracle.
Load Balancer and WAF
- Improved logging - Tenants can view and export their logs now using VMware Cloud Director. Both critical and non-critical logs are available along with filtering to quickly view the logs needed for common incident triage and compliance reporting. Used in conjunction with the new Web Application Firewall (WAF) capabilities, users will see additional recommendations for WAF remediation options.
- Custom Health Monitor - As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance the user experience, we are introducing Custom Health Monitors as a complement to our existing HTTP policies. With this feature, tenants can now monitor and troubleshoot various health characteristics of their load-balanced services, including metrics such as response time, packet loss, and connection errors. This allows them to take proactive measures to maintain service reliability and responsiveness.
- IPv6 Transparent Load Balancing - Support for IPv6 and Avi (NSX ALB) Transparent Load Balancing has been reintroduced, enabling pool members to see the client's source IP.
